4-Year-Old Preschool Program
Our second-year preschool program, called Chickadees, Woolly Bears, and Tadpoles, is for 4-year-olds and meets three days a week. Children must be 4 years old by September 30 and fully toilet trained.
We offer four classes: two in the morning and two in the afternoon.
Class Size: 10-12 with 2 teachers
Days: Monday, Wednesday & Friday
Times: 8:30-11:30 or 12:30-3:30
Chickadees, Woolly Bears & Tadpoles
To engage in imaginative storytelling through recall and sequencing events
To improve gross motor skills through activities and to engage in age appropriate risk-taking in our outdoor environment
To experience inspired play opportunities through TimberNook programming
To enhance and strengthen the ability to grasp writing implements and scissors
To improve fine motor skills through play while manipulating small objects (blocks, cars, clay, etc)
To demonstrate confident self-care dressing and management of personal belongings
To write one’s first name
To recognize at least 18 upper case letters and have some letter/sound knowledge
To recognize 15 lower case letters
To recognize and understand the concept of numbers 1-10 by 1:1 correspondence,
counting as well as to have exposure with numbers 11-20.To recognize colors, shapes, simple patterns and to be able to group and sort
To appreciate and respect nature
To engage in joyful play
To develop a good self-image and feeling of confidence through self-expression and positive reinforcements
To become more aware of oneself as an individual and to feel a part of the Acorn community
To appreciate and respect one another through kindness and positive communication
To follow multi step directions and class rules/agreements
To successfully enter and exit a play situation with various peers
To understand and respect personal space of oneself and others
To develop use of appropriate words and behaviors to express feelings and solve problems
To become an effective communicator of one’s needs and experiences with teachers, peers and other adults in the school community
To increase attention span and develop good listening skills (10-15 minute circle/story)
To positively contribute in group discussions
To engage with literature, science, math, art & music

Extended Day Program
Our optional extended day program provides children the ability to further their social and learning experiences, and to prepare for the longer elementary school day. Offered Monday and/or Friday on a monthly basis.
Enrichment Program
This program has a monthly theme inclusive of art, literature and music. Offered Wednesday.
Multi-Age Club Acorn
A Multi-Age Program
Size: 10-18 with 2-3 teachers
Days: Thursday
Times: 11:30-1:30
This multi-age program focuses on empowering our children to make a positive difference in our community. Sign ups are offered on a monthly basis.
