3-Year-Old Preschool Program
Chipmunks
Our first-year preschool program, called Chipmunks, is for 3-year-olds and meets twice a week. Children must be 3 years old by September 30 and fully toilet trained.
We offer four classes: two in the morning and two in the afternoon.
Class Size: 10-12 with 2 teachers
Days: Tuesday & Thursday
Times: 8:30-11:30 or 12:30-3:30
Objectives for Chipmunks
Play, Play, Play!
To foster the love of learning
To separate from family comfortably
To adjust to new situations
To learn to participate in group activities
To begin to recognize and label their own feelings
To learn early social skills such as sharing and turn taking
To learn to cooperate with peers and solve problems with positive words.
To develop a positive self-image and a feeling that,
“I can do it!”To develop independence in self-help skills through dressing, hand washing and care for one’s belongings
To communicate the need to go to the bathroom and use the bathroom with decreasing assistance
To learn to follow classroom routines
To appreciate and respect nature
To respect and care for the learning environment and the materials within it
To begin to develop listening skills and follow simple directions
To appreciate literature through different mediums
To strengthen gross motor skills (climbing, jumping, running)
To enhance fine motor coordination by manipulating small objects with increasing control
To recognize one’s first name
To begin identifying letters in the alphabet
To rote count to 10 and begin to count objects
To identify colors and shapes
To engage in imaginative and creative play
To be inspired by TimberNook programming
To appreciate music
To explore their environment by playing with an element of appropriate risk
Chippie Cheeks Extended Day Program

Times: 11:30-1:30
The optional 3-year-old extended day program, called Chippie Cheeks, offers additional opportunities to enhance social and learning experiences. Sign ups offered on a monthly basis.
